Granite tops are porous and need to be sealed annually where Corian tops are non porous and considered more sanitary. Granite tops are not repairable if cracked or broken. Corian countertops are repairable. If cracked, a piece of matching material can be used to repair the break. Although the repair will not be invisible, it will be inconspicuous. Granite countertops are heat and scratch resistant. Since Corian is the same all the way through, light scratches can be easily removed.

Many people like the natural appearance of granite. Granite adds a luxurious feel to any kitchen. As a natural product from the earth, no two countertops, although the same color, will be exactly alike. Corian does not necessarily have the elegant reputation of granite counter tops. However, Corian products are very attractive. Since it is a manufactured countertop, many color combinations and color textures available in Corian are not available in Granite.
